The Villages, FL · Lake Sumter Landing

New to The Villages? Start with a dental home.

Moving here comes with a long list — and finding a dentist usually slides to the bottom of it until something hurts. Here's the short, practical version: what to gather, what to ask, and how care works at Dentistry on the Square at Lake Sumter Landing.

Your first five steps

  1. 1. Get your records moving early

Ask your previous dental office for your recent X-rays, treatment notes and any lab records for crowns, dentures or implants. Offices release records with your written authorization, and it often takes a couple of weeks — so start before you need an appointment. If you'd rather not chase it, give us the office name and we can request them for you.

  2. 2. Write down what's already in your mouth

Crowns, bridges, implants, partials, dentures, root canals, night guards — plus the year they were done, if you know it. Bring your medication list too. That short page saves a lot of guesswork at a first exam and helps any dentist here pick up where your last one left off.

  3. 3. Ask how the office handles payment before you book

Practices in The Villages differ, and this is the question that surprises new residents most. Dentistry on the Square is fee-for-service: we do not accept dental insurance and we do not file claims. We accept cash, checks, major credit cards, and CareCredit for qualified applicants, and we tell you the cost before treatment is scheduled.

  4. 4. Book a comprehensive exam, not just a cleaning

A new-patient exam with digital X-rays gives you a real baseline — what's healthy, what's worn, what's worth watching. Ask for a cleaning the same day if you want one, and we'll book the time for it when your exam allows.

  5. 5. Know who to call before something breaks

Save a dental number in your phone now. A cracked tooth, a lost crown or sudden pain is a bad time to start searching. Call us at (352) 775-4515 during office hours and we'll guide you on next steps.

Six questions worth asking any office

  • Do you accept insurance, or are you fee-for-service?
  • Will I get a written treatment plan with costs before anything is scheduled?
  • Can you request my records from my previous dentist?
  • Do you do crowns in-house, and can any be done same day?
  • What happens if I have a problem outside of my appointment?
  • How do you handle patients who are nervous about the dentist?

Ask us all six on the phone. We'd rather answer them before you're in the chair.

FAQ

Questions from new residents

Contact your previous dental office and authorize the release of your records — X-rays, notes and lab records. You can also give us the office name and your authorization and we'll request them on your behalf.

That's your call. Dentistry on the Square does not accept dental insurance and does not file claims. We are fee-for-service and accept cash, checks, major credit cards, and CareCredit for qualified applicants. Many patients prefer knowing the fee up front rather than working around a plan's limits.

Before you need one. Getting a baseline exam and having your records here means an unexpected problem is a phone call rather than a scramble.

It changes the timing, not the care. Tell us your arrival and departure dates and we'll plan around them. Our seasonal resident guide walks through how we handle records and treatment between seasons.
