Cone-beam CT imaging lets us assess bone volume and anatomy in three dimensions, plan implant position digitally, and place restorations with a level of precision that wasn't possible with film-based imaging.
An implant has three parts. A small titanium or zirconia post takes the place of the missing tooth root. An abutment connects that post to the visible restoration. The crown, bridge, or denture on top is what you see and chew with.
Because the post is anchored in bone rather than clasped to neighboring teeth, an implant does not require reshaping healthy teeth the way a traditional bridge does. That is the single biggest structural difference between the two options.
Most single-tooth cases follow a similar rhythm: consultation and imaging, placement, a healing period while the bone integrates around the post, then the final restoration. Healing time varies by site, bone quality, and whether grafting was needed.
If a tooth still needs to be removed, or if the site needs bone or sinus work first, those steps are planned and explained before anything begins. You will know the sequence and what each visit involves ahead of time.
Implants are cleaned much like natural teeth: brushing, daily cleaning between teeth, and regular hygiene visits. The surrounding gum tissue can become inflamed if plaque builds up around the post, so consistent home care matters.
At hygiene visits we check the tissue around each implant, the bite, and the restoration itself. Small adjustments early are far easier than repairs later.
Implant treatment is quoted per case, because the number of implants, any preparatory work, and the type of final restoration all change the total. You receive a written treatment plan with the fees before you commit to anything.
